Judge coach on his character, not his error

Now is not the time for a "politically correct" response to the incident involving Jared Hensley. A good man's reputation, career and livelihood are on the line.

I will be the first to say that Coach Hensley used poor judgment with the words he used but to classify him as a sexist is just wrong. I have noticed that all the people who are attacking him don't know him or have never been associated with him.

The people coming to his defense are people who have known him for years. I know that the superintendent and the school board will do a full investigation into this.

I hope and pray that any decision on Coach Hensley's future is based on an individual with impeccable character who made a mistake rather than pressure from outsiders who want to make an "example" out of him.

Let me be clear. We, in the Soddy-Daisy community, love and appreciate Jared Hensley and what he means to all the students, male and female, at Soddy-Daisy High School. To lose him would be a devastating blow to our school as well as our community.

Support Democrats to put a check on Trump

The old saying "a house divided cannot stand" has never been more true with regard to our Senate. There is no more "crossing the aisle" that past lions of the Senate practiced: men like John McCain, Ted Kennedy and Joe Biden.

The Congress and Senate have become polarized and the reason is the man running crazy town - Donald Trump - who lies repeatedly on a regular basis and makes outrageous claims that are so obviously untrue to everybody other than his base.

His speeches are incoherent, rambling, nonsensical, angry and often make little or no sense.

I am an independent, but I fervently hope the Democrats can at least take over the House, if not the Senate, so we can finally have some oversight over his corrupt, skewed, petty, vindictive actions.

RIP John McCain, and God bless Jeff Flake. Seems like the only good GOP senators come from Arizona - and one from Tennessee, Bob Corker.

Vote for Phil Bredesen. He is a friend of Bob Corker and was instrumental in bringing VW to Chattanooga.

Boot incumbents to drain the swamp

If you really want to "drain the swamp," I suggest you not vote for Marsha Blackburn or Chuck Fleischmann, who have been in Washington for years.

Let's get a new senator and congresswoman. Vote for Phil Bredesen and Dr. Danielle Mitchell.
