No Bredesen vote this time around

I could vote for Bredesen. As a matter of fact I did vote for him for his second term as Tennessee governor.

As a small businessman, I am a firm believer that this country would be a lot better off with businessmen in our government rather than lawyers or politicians. I believe he did a great job as our governor.

However, with the toxic climate in our nation's capital, this is no time for our state to put another Democrat in the U.S. Senate. After this most recent fiasco in selecting a Supreme Court justice, this is no time to put another follower of Chuck Schumer in the Senate.

Almost all the Democratic senators came out against Kavanaugh prior to hearing anything he had to say. This is no time to put another person in the Senate who would most likely walk in lockstep with the Democrats in the Senate.

Yes, I could vote for Bredesen, if he were a Republican.

Russia, NRA tied in for Blackburn?

An NRA ad supporting U.S. Rep. Marcia Blackburn is running daily.

Has anyone considered that the money for this ad could be coming from Russia via the NRA?

Moderators should demand the answers

I watched the recent Bredesen/Blackburn "debates" in anticipation of getting answers to some nagging questions. To my dismay, the questions were neither asked nor answered.

My issue is not with the candidates, who know all too well how to avoid sticky and possibly embarrassing answers. My issue is with the creators of the so-called "debate," who don't seem to have the guts to ask the questions.

For most of us, the only thing we know about the candidates is what they say in their ads on TV. Those ads lead me to believe there are serious issues to be addressed. They have made claims against each other that border on criminal activity if they are true. They claim business improprieties, drug company payoffs, improper stock purchases and an accusations not brought up in the "debates."

Of course, the candidates didn't voluntarily tread in territory that might get ugly. Even with questions asked, the candidates frequently, instead, went into 30-second campaign speeches.

Is it really too rude for a moderator to say, "That's not what I asked. Please answer the question."?

Come on moderators, demand answers.

Seeking hypocrite? Vote for Bredesen

On Oct. 10, Project Veritas released a video in which Phil Bredesen's staff admits to lying for votes. Some direct quotes:

Journalist: "Like he wouldn't really vote yes [for Kavanaugh,] would he?"

Staff: "No, it's a political move ... He thinks that, like, we're down like half a point right now. It's, like, really close, and we're losing by a point or two. So he thinks that if, like, by saying this he's appealing to more moderate Republicans, and he'll get more of them to vote for us."

Later:

Journalist: "I was so confused because I just can't believe he would actually vote [for Kavanaugh.]

Staff: "He wouldn't. But he's saying he would Which I don't know if it makes it worse or better. No, it makes it better ... "

And best of all:

Staff: "Between you and me, once Phil actually gets into the Senate, he'll be a good Democrat."

If you want a senator who believes conservative appointees are guilty until proven innocent, vote Bredesen. If you want a senator who will toe the Democratic party line, vote Bredesen. If you want a senator with contempt for Tennesseans, vote Bredesen.
