Listen to the scientists, not mouthy politicians

Wearing a face mask slows the spread of COVID-19 and helps save lives. It is not a political issue; it is a public health issue.

I understand that some people are upset that they are being required to wear a face mask by their local government. The reason cities, counties and states have had to adopt laws requiring face masks is that some people are apparently taking medical advice from a president who believes exercise is bad for his health, windmills cause cancer and that we should try injecting disinfectants into patients.

We would all be better off if we listened to the smartest and best-informed voice in the room, not the loudest.

Elect Tom Decosimo to represent District 2

Our public school system is at a crossroads. Over the past few decades, a great deal of money has been thrown at the school system without much positive results.

Although money alone will not produce a good school system, we all know it is necessary to properly fund the effort. Tom Decosimo has years of experience in wisely investing in different business enterprises. The school system is also a business that should be operated by qualified members to produce the result we all want for our children.

Tom is ready to invest his time and energy into spending our tax money to get the maximum benefit for our students.

I highly recommend Tom for the District 2 school board seat and suggest you give him your support as well. Early voting has started.

Lennon backs Perez for school board seat

There are very few people who would serve our community — the students, staff and families — the way they deserve to be served. Marco Perez is such a person. I have complete faith in his motivation, intention, commitment and ability. He is a truly good person and extremely qualified.

Therefore, I wholeheartedly and without reservation endorse Marco Perez for school board District 2. Marco is knowledgeable and engaged in Hamilton County Schools. His oldest daughter graduated from Signal Mountain Middle High School, and his younger daughters attend Hamilton County Schools.

He is a very thoughtful and compassionate person who listens to, engages with, and will advocate for all students, teachers and administrators. Marco is running for this position because his heart is with our students, teachers, community and our schools.

Marco Perez is the most qualified person for the District 2 school board, and will fulfill his role as our school board representative with the same level of dedication I have strived to always have. He is the best choice. He is the only choice. He is not running to serve his own ego. He is running to serve our children and our community. And I wholeheartedly support him.
