Falling for 'furries' trips Republicans
Maybe it began with Bert Lahr's portrayal of the cowardly lion in "The Wizard of Oz." But there are other lovable animals: Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Porky Pig, and of course Snoopy of "Peanuts" fame. Serve up the consequences.
In Tuesday's New York Times, columnist Michelle Goldberg wrote a commentary titled, "Why Are People Falling for the 'Furries' Myth?"
Seems Republican state Sen. Bruce Bostelman of Nebraska had expressed concern about the spread of a new variety of deviance in state schools.
"It's something called 'furries," he said, claiming schoolchildren were identifying as cats or dogs. "They meow and they bark."
Indulgent teachers, Goldberg wrote, allegedly favor "putting litter boxes in the schools for the children to use."
Of course, there is no such thing as a "furries" obsession. Even as Bostelman apologized for "spreading falsehoods," he said this: "It was just something I felt that if this really was happening, we needed to address it and address it quickly."
Dear God: "If."
Since the flood of social media's manufacture of lies has spread to Congressional hearings, in a weird way Bostelman's embrace of a crackpot rumor makes perfect sense.
I'm going to ask my teddy bear what he thinks.
Dumitru would serve county with integrity
I fully and energetically endorse Mike Dumitru for election as Division II Circuit Court Judge of Hamilton County. I have met with Mike, discussed with him his vision for excellence in our court system, and gotten to know him personally.
There is no one more qualified. Mike is ready to take on this most crucial role in our judicial system. He is a wonderful family man who loves his wife and is fully committed to raising his children to take their place as great American citizens.
I look forward to voting for Mike in the upcoming primary election on May 3, 2022. Early voting begins on Wednesday, April 13. Vote for Mike Dumitru!
Familial ties won't ensure success
Why are the Wamps always wanting to be on the public payroll?
These jobs used to call for experience and being trustworthy.
Can anyone detect these qualities in either of the aforementioned candidates?
Being the son or daughter in a political family does not guarantee these qualities.
You can see real patriots in Ukraine
Watching the Ukraine story on TV is heartbreaking. These people are true patriots, unlike these nuts here driving around with flags on cars and waving Trump flags. They are not patriots.
After Putin invaded Ukraine, Donald Trump called Putin a genius while men, women and children were being killed. Tucker Carlson and Fox News praised Putin.
Will the real church stand up and denounce Trump? The Republican Party is Donald Trump. It needs to be burned down to the ground and given a new start.
These people are evil, and you cannot meet evil halfway and try to reason with it.
