The Rant

The Rant

June 24th, 2018 in Opinion Rants

We are constantly told if you don't vote you are not patriotic. So what is best for the country: vote with ignorance or not vote?

Fellow wartime veterans: Please recognize that too many have given too much for an immoral, pathological, lying, draft-dodging coward to be acceptable as president.

Why so upset at illegal immigrant family separations while the abortion epidemic separates families not started yet? The illegals could have chosen to stay home.

Jeff Sessions, as you now quote scripture to support your policies, please read, think and pray about the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:35-45.

The Republicans could run George Washington and Abe Lincoln and the Democrats would find fault in their clothing and haircuts.

Christian Conservatives are the most unChristian people in America.

Funny how no one complained when Obama, Bush and Clinton separated children from their parents. Supreme Court approved it in 1997.

Would someone tell me what the Democrats in this state are running on for the mid-term elections ? Forget about other states or 2020?

Sadly, if the truth doesn't matter to you anymore, you're probably a Republican. Obvious lies are now acceptable. It didn't used to be this way.

Did you really think tax cuts to big business would trickle down to you? U.S wage growth is flat. Can you say "stock buybacks"?

Since preventive health care can't prevent death, living longer simply postpones the costs of disease and dying. Health care savings is the wrong argument.

Has enough time passed since Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook, Parkland, et al, can we now discuss sane, sensible gun control? Humans, God is watching.

Earn entry to U.S. by getting a job for a year building the wall, getting GED, and learning to speak English.

If you don't want to hear the national anthem played at the next ballgame, stay home. Trust me, no one will miss you.

Spend our tax dollars for more roads without potholes or on new lights for the Walnut Street Bridge? You're right, it is a no-brainer.

Today, I once again visited the Chattanooga VA clinic. Their health care service is second to none.

Mayor Berke, please use your influence in having the bridge rebuilt on Standifer Gap Road between Shallowford and Hickory Valley roads.

I didn't see any female headliners listed for Riverbend. What's up with that? A female Celtic band would have really rocked.

The comics: Does anyone besides me have a problem understanding the Doonesberry strip?

I love Bill Stamps' column. It's the first thing I read in the Sunday paper. It reminds me of when I was growing up in the country.

Those who talk loudest with disdain for many can wind up injured.

In Sunday's paper, the valedictorians of our local high schools were honored. There were only 19 males and 39 females. Things are changing!

Ranter criticized your columnist Bill Stamps. Wow. Mr. Stamps crafts words which are pure poetry, creating imagery like a modern-day Rembrandt wielding his paintbrush.

Thank you, David Cook. You are the moral force behind making Chattanooga a better place to live.

We need to stop measuring the economy by how well rich people are doing.

An old Sufi saying: "Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates:

'Is it true?' 'Is it necessary?' 'Is it kind?'"

Never bring a hatchet to a gun fight.
