JoAnne Favors soundly defeated Dennis Clark in the Democratic primary for the 28th district seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives on Thursday night.

There are no Republicans in the running for the seat, meaning Favors, 73, will be unopposed in November's general election as she seeks a seventh term in the Tennessee General Assembly.

She won by a margin of 3,948-859 over Clark, 32.

The position represents downtown, east Chattanooga and Alton Park.
