NASHVILLE - State legislative Democrats have filed a formal complaint against a Republican representative in which they accuse her of creating a "hostile work environment" by distributing to all 99 House members a DVD that charges American mosques are "war factories."

"It portrayed all Muslims as terrorists and extremists," charged Rep. Johnnie Turner of Memphis, one of three House Democrats who filed the complaint against Rep. Susan Lynn, R-Mt. Juliet.

The complaint alleging "workplace discrimination and harassment and creation of hostile work environment" was filed Monday against Lynn with the General Assembly's director of legislative administration, Connie Ridley.

Lynn later said passing along information to colleagues is a common practice among lawmakers. She said she gave portions of the DVD a cursory examination while simultaneously working on her computer.

"I am not responsible for the content," said Lynn, who noted it appears to stitch together various bits of video from news organizations and information posted by groups on the Internet.

Titled "America's Mosques Exposed! Video Evidence They Are War Factories," the DVDs came from Louie E. Johnston Jr., national director of training for a group called Patriot Pastors, according to a sticker on the DVDs.
