U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, R-Tenn., a member of the House Appropriations Committee, today denounced the record high $4.1 trillion budget proposal for fiscal 2017 released Tuesday by the White House.

President Obama's eighth and final budget proposal is unlikely to get very far in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, Fleischmann said.

"I was disappointed but not surprised to see the President send the Congress yet another budget that is completely out of touch with reality," Fleischmann said. "The simple fact is that this year's Presidential Budget, with its trillions of dollars in reckless new spending and taxes, is dead on arrival."

Feischmann said he will work with House colleagues this year to develop a better spending plant "to bring the American people real fiscal solutions which cut waste, encourage economic growth and strengthen our military."
