Tennessee lawmakers raked in more extra pay last year on top of their legislative salaries than in the last five years, according to the findings of a USA Today Network-Tennessee analysis.
Lawmakers received $2.4 million in taxpayer money for expenses such as mileage and office work, state records show. That's $370,000 more than last year, a 17 percent increase.
The money is on top of the roughly $22,000 salary most lawmakers receive for their work.
