Martin Boyd offers all-inclusive assisted living

For families looking for improved living arrangements for their aging loved ones, they can often be faced with daunting finances. However, at Martin Boyd Christian Home, they are making great efforts in providing affordable care for everyone.

For 35 years, Martin Boyd Christian Home has provided quality care in the assisted living realm here in the scenic city as a well-known non-profit organization. Director of Admissions Brooke Steele shared that the group is always ready to meet families where they are at and help clients make the best possible decision when it comes to looking into assisted care.

"We encourage people to have a plan in place before it's needed," Steele explained. "Being prepared always makes the process much easier, and we tend to have a waiting list, so it is always good to reach out early in order for us to help accommodate your needs when you're ready."

She went on to share that everyone that comes into Martin Boyd has a personalized care plan specific to their needs and abilities. So, when it comes to peace of mind and comfort, families don't have to worry about their loved one.

The local facility also has a specialized memory care unit for residents who have Alzheimer's and dementia.

"We specialize in caring for those who are no longer able to care for themselves in their own home," Steele said. "We have nursing care around the clock as well as care givers."

Floor plans for resident rooms are spacious and offer a living area, bedroom with closet space, and bathroom with a linen closet. Residents can have the comfort of a private apartment type setting while also getting the care they need. There are also a wide variety of activities to help residents remain engaged and have a good time. Daily social activities include bingo, exercise classes, Bible classes, manicures, wellness checks, trips to local craft stores and much more.

"You can view our monthly calendar online anytime and see that we all stay busy and have a lot of fun," Steele said.

Steele stressed resident's accommodations and care is all inclusive with one monthly price made more affordable by donations and gifts. Martin Boyd residents have all their needs met and their family can rest assured knowing that nothing is getting overlooked or added as an extra cost for assistance.

"Our fees are all inclusive so that people can budget appropriately," Steele added. "We do not have any additional fees for care."

Steele shared when families are ready to begin the process of exploring assisted living for their aging loved ones, a consultation is a simple way to kick things off and help ensure everyone is on the same page. Steele expressed how important early planning is for a successful outcome for your loved one, so they can be prepared.

"When people contact me I usually like for them to give me a brief description of their situation and then I tell them how we can help with their specific needs," she said. "I can always just give general information, rates, and services, but seeing as how this is a very personal decision, I like to be very case specific in my conversations."

Steele said from that point, they can schedule a tour for the family and potential resident. Brooke is available to answer any questions families may have as well as go over rates and the next steps in the process at that time without any obligation.

If one word could sum up Martin Boyd Christian Home, Steele said it would have to be "home" because they strive to be a family and make it a home environment as opposed to just an assisted living facility.

"We just want everyone to feel welcome and as at ease as possible as they settle in," she added.
