Blanc, Redding join Vols commitments

HOOVER, Ala. - The University of Tennessee mid-July recruiting run began Monday, and it hasn't stopped there.

The Volunteers' momentum continued Friday with their seventh and eighth public commitments of the week, giving them 10 pledges for the 2012 recruiting class after beginning the week with just a pair.

Friday morning, Knoxville Central High School athlete Cody Blanc became the Vols' second in-state commitment. Keithon Redding, a receiver from Columbia High School in Decatur, Ga., picked UT later Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Blanc, who had scholarship offers from Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech, starred as a kick returner as a junior and projects as a safety in college. Redding is a 6-1, 195-pound three-star prospect according to Rivals.com, and he had scholarship offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Penn State and Central Florida.
