Two Mocs arrested on theft charges

Two University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football players, Clim Robbins and T.J. Thompson, turned themselves into campus police Wednesday night on charges of nine counts of aggravated burglary and nine counts of felony theft each.

The arrest warrants were issued after a lengthy investigation by UTC police into numerous alleged thefts at Boling Apartments, where the two freshmen cornerbacks live. Thompson is from Sanford, Fla., and Robbins is from Orlando. Both were two-star recruits that redshirted in 2011.

UTC spokesman Chuck Cantrell said Robbins and Thompson "turned themselves in to campus police without incident," and were then taken to Hamilton County Jail.

Robbins and Thompson have been suspended from the team by Mocs coach Russ Huesman since late February for violating team rules and did not participate in spring practice. That suspension was due to the investigation.

The players have already faced UTC student conduct hearings, Cantrell said, but federal student privacy laws prohibit UTC from disclosing the results of those hearings.

Cantrell said more than half of the stolen items have been recovered or returned.
