Alabama cornerback Geno Smith, a sophomore from Atlanta, was arrested early Sunday morning for driving under the influence and was booked by the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

The Crimson Tide held their second preseason scrimmage Saturday afternoon, took Sunday off and will have today off as well. Bond for Smith was set at $1,000, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office website.

"This is obviously not the kind of behavior we expect from our players," Alabama coach Nick Saban said. "I don't have all of the details at this point and will handle it appropriately once I've had a chance to review the information."

The 6-foot, 186-pound Smith played in 13 of Alabama's 14 games last season, tallying nine tackles and two pass deflections.

Smith is the first known Crimson Tide player to be arrested since February, when Brent Callaway, Tyler Hayes, D.J. Pettway and Eddie Williams were dismissed from the team following charges of second-degree robbery and credit card fraud.
