Georgia's Brendan Langley moving to receiver

Georgia's secondary continues to get thinner.

Sophomore defensive back Brendan Langley will move to receiver for the start of preseason camp, Bulldogs coach Mark Richt said Monday. The 6-foot-1, 181-pounder from Marietta started the first four games at cornerback last season but played more safety this spring under new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.

Langley had his playing time decrease drastically after the first month of last season and wound up playing in nine games. He made 12 tackles, with seven in the opening loss at Clemson.

"He's fast, and he can change direction well," Richt told 247Sports.com, who was the first to report the switch. "We just thought as a staff that it might be a shot for him to help us."

Langley's shift occurs a few days after Shaq Wiggins, who made eight starts at cornerback last season, announced that he would be transferring to another school. Georgia dismissed junior safety Josh Harvey-Clemons from the program in February for violating team rules, and sophomore safety Tray Matthews was arrested in March for trying to deposit stipend checks twice.

Richt has not announced a punishment for Matthews.
