The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga received a preseason ranking of No. 8 in the Football Championship Subdivision coaches' poll, released today.
The coaches' poll is the first one released that is recognized by the NCAA. The SportsNetwork.com poll will be released soon.
The Mocs' ranking is their highest ever in the primary FCS polls. They start the season one spot ahead of Jacksonville State, their opponent for the first game of the season. Southern Conference opponents Western Carolina, Furman and Samford received votes.
Defending national champion North Dakota State received all 24 first-place votes and is the preseason No. 1.
