Led by Casey Jones' third double-double of the season, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball team improved to 2-0 in Southern Conference play with a 72-60 win over Furman Saturday.
Jones had 20 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, leading four Mocs in double figures. Justin Tuoyo tied his season high with 14 points, while Greg Pryor and Ronrico White added 12 points each.
UTC (9-6 overall) led 36-32 at the half, then had a 6-0 run to start the second half in building a double-digit lead. The Paladins (3-9, 1-1) cut the lead below 10 three times -- the closest being when Stephen Croone hit two free throws to cut it to 44-38 -- but a 9-2 run by the Mocs helped them take control of the game.
Croone had 18 points to lead the Paladins. Kendrec Ferrera was the only other player in double figures for Furman, finishing with 13 points.
The Mocs host Southern Conference favorite Wofford Monday at 8.
