Another Woerner heading to Georgia

A familiar name is heading to Georgia.

Charlie Woerner on Thursday became the 14th commitment for Georgia's 2016 football signing class and the 11th from within the state. The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder from Tiger, Ga., is rated the No. 11 tight end prospect nationally by Rivals.com and the No. 19 receiver nationally by 247Sports.com.

Woerner is a nephew of former Bulldogs cornerback Scott Woerner, who was an All-American on the 1980 national championship team. Lettering from 1977 to '80, Woerner had the school record for career punt-return yardage and ranked third in career interceptions with 13 when his college career was over.

The younger Woerner had early scholarship offers from Clemson, Florida, Michigan and Tennessee.
