Led by probable redshirt Bryce Carr, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga placed 14 wrestlers over two divisions at Sunday's Hokie Open in Blacksburg, Va.

Competing unattached, Carr, a junior, won the open division at 174 pounds, beating teammate and returning Southern Conference champ Sean Mappes in the semifinals prior to a 5-3 victory over Columbia's Zach Hernandez.

Mappes, who bested Carr in the recent intrasquad Blue-Gold match, rebounded to finish third. Scottie Boykin finished second at 197 pounds and John Lampe (184) was third, pinning three of his opponents.

"We were able to get out of Blacksburg without any injuries, and I'm anxious to review the video and see what all there is for us to work on," UTC coach Heath Eslinger said.

Ten Mocs earned medals in the freshman/sophomore division, headed by champions Alonzo Allen (125), Dominic Lampe (165) and Justin Lampe (174). Roman Boylen (141), Demarco Gatti (165) and Rodney Jones (197) finished second, Chris DeBien (133) and Sam Stephenson (285) were third, and Toribio Navarro (125) and Chad Solomon (174) placed sixth.

The Mocs return to action Saturday at Maclellan Gym, hosting Cumberland University and Southeastern University beginning at 10 a.m.
