Lacrosse

* McCallie School's ultra-successful lacrosse program had two NCAA Division I signees and three Division III commitments sealed in a ceremony Thursday. In addition to first-team all-state attack player Zach Hutchko signing with reigning national champion Denver, All-American and 2014 all-stater Jeff Durden is headed to Navy and fellow defensemen Nic Najjar and Jonathan Lipman committed to Denison and Rochester Institute of Technology, respectively. Attack man Andrew Klementz committed to Greensboro College. McCallie coach Troy Kemp called Klementz a "strong bull dodger" and said Lipman is "one of the hardest working and most improved players in our program. He had an incredible summer and dominated in showcase events." Najjar is 6-foot-5, 220 pounds and "one of the best athletes in our program," Kemp said. Hutchko has "an explosive first step (and) can take over games" and averaged over four points a game in the 2014 season, while Durden, according to Kemp, is a "most versatile defenseman who is a legitimate threat on the offensive end of the field." He had six goals and four assists last season.
