University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore setter Lauren Greenspoon was honored Monday as the Southern Conference volleyball offensive player of the month for September. The Houston resident was a consistent plus in the Mocs' 12-1 record in the month, including a 3-0 conference start, by averaging 11.62 assists per set. She totaled 488 in September, when she also had four double-doubles with digs as well as assists. The Mocs played without her last week and stretched their win streak to 11 matches.

* Covenant College sophomore Ginny Moore was the USA South volleyball player of the week for the second time this season after helping lead a 3-0 week with 5.11 kills and 4.44 digs per set and three double-doubles. She had 16, 15 and 15 kills in the three wins and 10, 18 and 12 digs. She has 11 double-doubles this season and is second in the USAS with 4.09 kills per set.

* Dalton State's Michala Askew was honored as the setter of the week in Southern States Athletic Conference volleyball.

Golf

* The UTC women's golfers smashed the program's record for 36 holes and lead the Fall Invitational at the Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Ga., going into the final round today. Emily McLennan beat Jordan Britt's 36-hole program record with her second-place 136 (68-68), and the Mocs had a 564 (284-280) - 13 better than the previous record set in the 2014 Web.com Intercollegiate. Middle Tennessee State is second at 566, and Ole Miss is next at 569 in the 13-team event. UTC's Isabella Loza and Cris Perez are tied for third and sixth at 140 and 142, and Megan Woods is tied for 23rd at 146.

* The UTC men's golf team is tied for third out of 16 teams after Monday's round in the rain-shortened Wolfpack Fall Open hosted by North Carolina State at the Lonnie Poole course in Raleigh. Led by Wes Gosselin in a tie for fifth individually at 71, the Mocs shot 292 to tie the defending-champion hosts, three shots behind West Virginia and two behind Campbell. UTC's Andrew Weathers is tied for 15th at 73, and Stuart Thomas and Lake Johnson share 28th place at 74.

* Lee University shot 274 in the second round and leads Carson-Newman by five strokes going into the final round today of the University of North Georgia Fall Invitational men's tournament in Dahlonega. Lee's Flames are at 558 with senior Peyton Sliger tied for first individually at 8-under-par 136 (67-69), Taylor Davis tied for third at 138 (70-68) and Shea Sylvester tied for ninth at 141 (75-66).

Soccer

* Enrique Garcia's goal from a Connor Garrett pass 4:58 into overtime gave Berry College a 2-1 men's soccer victory over visiting Covenant on Monday. Ben Ebersole scored from a Daniel Shaw assist in the 35th minute, but Isaac Johnson equalized for the Scots (3-6-1) on an attempted clear by the Berry goalkeeper with six minutes left in regulation. The Vikings (3-4-2) outshot the visitors 28-13, but Covenant had two shots on goal and a corner kick in the first three minutes of overtime. Daniel Kubin and Jonathan Crossman had five and eight saves for the Scots, each allowing a goal.

* Dalton State had both the offensive and defensive players of the week for SSAC men's soccer after winning two 2-1 overtime games. Junior Tomide Adabale was the offensive honoree with both goals against Faulkner after recording one of the Roadrunners' four shots on goal in their upset of Auburn-Montgomery. He leads the SSAC with 17 goals, 38 points - eight and 17 ahead of second place - and 3.55 shots on goal per game. Freshman goalkeeper Diego Gonzalez won the defensive award.

* Sewanee's Tyler Edell was the Southern Athletic Association's women's soccer offensive player of the week after scoring three goals with game-winners against both Maryville and Oglethorpe.

* Allyson Hale from South Pittsburg and St. Andrew's-Sewanee School was the USA South women's soccer player of the week after totaling five goals and an assist in Maryville College's 2-1 week. She had a hat trick in a 5-1 win over LaGrange and two goals in a 5-0 defeat of William Peace. Hale leads the Lady Scots with eight goals in 10 games.

* The UTC soccer match called off Sunday at The Citadel because of flooding has been rescheduled for 6 tonight at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C.

Field Hockey

* The Sewanee field hockey team fell 2-1 Monday in overtime at Randolph-Macon for its second loss of the season and in a row. Virginia Barry gave the Tigers (6-2) an early lead with a rebound goal, but Randolph-Macon (7-3) scored early in the second half and on a penalty corner at 86:33. Sewanee had a 27-15 edge in shots but had a 12-4 disadvantage in corners.
