Alabama fifth-year senior offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor was arrested Sunday morning by the Tuscaloosa Police Department and charged with driving under the influence.

Taylor started all 15 games last season at right guard and has appeared in 35 career games for the Crimson Tide. He was demoted to the second team this past spring, when his weight was listed at 345 pounds after being listed last season at 325.

"He is going to continue to be on the second team if he doesn't get his weight down and get in shape," Alabama coach Nick Saban said after the A-Day game.

Brandon Kennedy, a redshirt freshman, was the starting right guard at A-Day, when the first-team offense managed just 131 yards, seven first downs and three points against the first-team defense.

Taylor, who stands 6-foot-5 and is from Mobile, finished last season with a team-high 57 knockdown blocks and missed only 12 assignments all year. He allowed just one sack and this past week at media days was tabbed as a Southeastern Conference second-team guard.
