Rayanna Janke has yet to open her first high school textbook, yet the soon-to-be freshman at Coahulla Creek High School has her post-prep years already planned.

The Class of 2020 softball player has committed to play for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. After excelling for the ProStar Fastpitch team this spring and summer, Janke committed following an unofficial visit to the campus.

"I feel extremely humbled to be receiving a scholarship offer at my age, and I give thanks to God," said Janke, who played infield and catcher for her summer team. "I know people will question this decision at my age, but I loved my visit and the coaching staff is exactly what I was looking for.

"I feel I can go to UTC and succeed on the softball field and in the classroom."

ProStar coach Steve Chattin, who founded the program a year ago, said the Mocs are getting a player with serious power potential.

"R.J. is one of the best, if not the best, power hitters we have ever coached for her age," said Chattin, who noted Janke had become well known in recruiting circles after showing well at exposure tournaments and camps.

"She is always one of the first at practice and one of the last to leave. She is also a leader and someone who puts tremendous pressure on herself to perform well for her team. I am confident she will continue to work and improve and will impact UTC as a freshman."
