University of Georgia freshman cornerback Chad Clay was dismissed from the football team Wednesday night following his second arrest since enrolling in January.

The 6-foot, 180-pounder from Marietta was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of theft by taking. According to the Athens-Clarke County jail booking report, he was booked at 6:04 p.m. and released at 7:17 on a $1,500 bond.

"Unfortunately, Chad will no longer be a part of our football program," first-year Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart said in a release. "It is very disappointing, and we wish him the best in his efforts to continue his education."

Clay, who was the No. 18 cornerback in the 2016 signing class according to ESPN, and freshman defensive lineman Julian Rochester were arrested in April on felony charges after shooting a BB gun in their campus dorm. That case is still pending.
