Tennessee Wesleyan College moved up two spots this week to 10th in the NAIA baseball poll, and the Bulldogs' Ryan Hartman was the AAC pitcher of the week for his seven-inning, three-hit shutout of Reinhardt. The senior had no walks and five strikeouts in that game and is 3-0 for the season with an earned run average of 0.48 and 49 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings.

* Bryan College rose from 23rd to 20th in the NAIA baseball poll and beat Cumberland University 5-3 on Tuesday. Preston King homered, doubled and batted in two runs for the Lions (22-7), while Crandon Wallace was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Andrew Urbistondo was 2-for-4 and scored a run. Hunter Tipton (3-0) and three relievers held the Phoenix (17-15) to two earned runs.

* Lee University's Ben Holland was the Gulf South Conference baseball player of the week after going 8-for-16 with two home runs, four doubles and six RBIs in four games March 14-20. His second homer against Shorter was a 10th-inning game-winner. Going into Tuesday night's game against Trevecca Nazarene, the senior was batting .458 with 13 homers, the most in NCAA Division II, 15 doubles and 37 RBIs. Lee (16-12) nipped Trevecca 8-7 on Luke Toms' hit after Holland reached on a tying error in the 14th inning, Those two, Trenton Hill and Chris Adams each had two hits for the Flames.

* Led by two home runs and five RBIs by Alex Kerr and a grand slam among three hits for Luke Harvey, the Covenant College baseball team beat visiting Oakland City 12-7 on Tuesday. Caleb Bloye also homered as the Scots (12-13) tied a school record with four in one game. Kerr scored three runs and Bloye and Julien Amorelli each scored two, and Perry Rigby and Taylor Bloye each was 2-for-3.

Softball

* Erin Gabriel threw a five-inning perfect game with seven strikeouts and Gretchen Aucoin was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs in Tennessee's 10-0 softball win Tuesday against Jacksonville. The Vols are 22-8.

* Kaitie Sims and Sarah Hundley pitched three-hitters as Bryan College lost 2-1 and won 4-1 against visiting Reinhardt in AAC softball Tuesday. Both teams received votes for the NAIA Top 25. Ashley Brown had an RBI hit in the first game for Bryan (14-12, 9-2), which had only two hits and gave up an unearned run. The Lady Lions got 13 hits in their win, as Kim Borowski and Olivia Gore each was 3-for-4, Lacye Walker was 2-for-2 with two walks and Hundley and Becca Zimmerman each was 2-for-4. Borowski scored twice and Gore, Walker and Zimmerman had RBIs. Reinhardt is 24-9, 5-1.

* The third-place Tennessee Wesleyan softball team is 6-2 in the AAC, 11-10 overall, after losing 6-2 and winning 9-8 in eight innings at home Tuesday against Milligan.

* Covenant lost 8-3 and won 4-1 in softball Tuesday against Wesleyan from Macon, Ga., with Carsyn Stone pitching a six-hitter in the victory. Shannon Schmitt was 3-for-3 with an RBI, Jordan Brett went 2-for-3 and scored a run and Madalyn Ames was 1-for-2 and scored twice for the Lady Scots (11-10-1). Brett was 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the loss, when Carlin Labuzan was 2-for-2 and homered after a Kasey Hart triple.

Golf

* Dalton State sophomore Katie Dalton is the SSAC women's golfer of the week after finishing second at 225 for 54 holes at the Keiser Invitational in Florida and tying for fourth at 150 for 36 holes in the Low Country Intercollegiate at Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Tennis

* Tennessee Wesleyan junior Jaime Llardo was chosen as the AAC men's tennis player of the week after he won at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles in a victory over Union College in TWC's only match last week. Llardo is 9-3 in singles, 10-3 in doubles.

Lacrosse

* The Sewanee women's lacrosse team lost 17-5 at home to MIT on Tuesday and now is 4-8. Cecilia McCormick and Kira Schott each scored four goals and Hannah Levy had three for MIT (5-2). Meredith Sackett scored two for Sewanee.
