Led by Baylor School graduate Emily Javadi from Chattanooga, the Sewanee women's golf team is headed to the NCAA Division III national tournament for the first time in program history. That will be held May 10-13 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, with 21 teams. The Tigers got one of four at-large invitations after finishing the fall and spring seasons ranked No. 5 in the country. They led the first two days of the Southern Athletic Association tournament and wound up runners-up to No. 1-ranked Rhodes.

* The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's golf recruits for 2016-17 are up to five after coach Mark Guhne announced Monday the April signings of Mike Biata from Oklahoma and Will Porter from Scotland. Guhne said in a school release that with them, Canadian transfer Etienne Brault and fall signees Phillip Hickam and local standout Oliver Simonesen, "we are infusing a lot of talent into a good returning core. The competition to get into the lineup each tournament will be fierce." Biata was the 2016 region medalist for Owasso High School, which won the 2015 Oklahoma Class 6A championship, and he won two times in 2015 on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour and was second in OJGT points. Porter was the 2015 Scottish boys champion and led his country to the 2015 Home Internationals championship against England, Wales and Ireland. He has held his own in men's events as well, including a seventh-place finish in this year's Craigmillar Park Open.

* Four Florida teams lead the NCAA Division II Women's Super Region 2 golf tournament after Monday's first round at Marcus Pointe Golf Club in Pensacola, but Lee University is only 11 strokes behind first-place Nova Southeastern's 295. With the individual leader shooting 69, Lee's Sam Burrus, Caley Gino, Caroline Moore, Bernadette Little and Callie Kitchens shot 75, 76, 77, 78 and 79. They are being directed by assistant coach Hunter Vest, who said, "For the most part all of our girls had solid starts. We had several great birdie opportunities but couldn't seem to convert them. However, the girls did a fantastic job of staying patient."

* The Lee men's team posted a 17th-place 310 Monday in the first round of the South/Southeast Regional at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. Gulf South Conference rival West Florida took the lead with an 8-under-par 280, and Lynn was second at 282. Those teams had the individual co-leaders at 65, while Lee's best score was a 75 from senior Taylor Davis. Peyton Sliger shot 77, Corey Sheppard and Adam Wright had 79s and Shea Sylvester shot 80.

Basketball

' Dalton State basketball coach Tony Ingle announced Monday that the Roadrunners have signed the top rebounder in the NJCAA, Sayvon Wilson, for the 2016-17 season. Wilson, a 6-foot-4 small forward, averaged 13.7 rebounds a game last season for East Georgia State College in Swainsboro. "We are very excited to have Sayvon as our newest member of the Roadruners," Ingle said in a DSC release.

Football

* Gordon Central tight end Hayden Murphy was one of 23 football recruits announced Monday by Berry College, joining 23 whose commitments were reported in the fall. Murphy was a two-year captain for the Warriors and caught 39 passes for 326 yards and four touchdowns as a senior, when he made the all-region team and was the school's Iron Warrior honoree.

Soccer

* The Chattanooga Football Club will hold an intrasquad match at 7 p.m. Saturday at Finley Stadium, and it is open to the public at no charge. Autographs and photo opportunities will be available afterward. The team's first match of 2016 will be a week later against the Birmingham Hammers.

Softball

* Tennessee's scheduled softball series finale Monday night against Auburn in Knoxville was called off because of bad weather. It will not be made up. The Vols end their regular season Friday through Sunday at Mississippi.
