SATURDAY'S STAR
For the second straight week, Richardre Bagley dominated the workload at running back, totaling 126 rushing yards and two touchdowns. In the two games without injured starter Derrick Craine, Bagley has 315 yards and four scores.
SATURDAY'S STAT
The Mocs won despite giving up 277 rushing yards to Detrez Newsome, the most yards given up to one player in UTC history. Newsome had touchdowns covering 75 and 95 yards, the latter the longest play ever allowed by a UTC defense.
TURNING POINT
With a 21-10 lead early in the second quarter, the Mocs forced a punt. It was simple, but it was their first of four consecutive stops. UTC was able to build its lead to 28 points and never looked back.
THE BIG PLAY
Tyler Roberson faked a handoff, got to the outside and sprinted 54 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. It provided a sense of redemption after Roberson was caught from behind on a similar run Oct. 1 at East Tennessee State.
WHAT IT MEANS
The Mocs get a much-needed open date this week before preparing for Wofford on senior day, and they do so with an 8-1 record and a top-10 national ranking. Saturday's game featured a great offensive performance by UTC, but the defense had some letdowns.
