For the first time in eight tries, Campbell University pulled out a wrestling victory over the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and it came in the least likely of fashions Saturday.

His teammates might have carried Jere Heino off the mat if he had been anything but a heavyweight after he pulled out a 9-4 decision over the Mocs' 10th-ranked Jared Johnson. The sophomore's victory lifted his team to a 21-19 Southern Conference victory.

UTC rebounded with a 44-3 defeat of Davidson.

Campbell's Finland connection actually pulled off an earlier upset that began the Camels' closing rally past the Mocs. Ville Heino, who had lost a lopsided decision to the Mocs' 17th-ranked Bryce Carr at the Southern Scuffle, edged Carr 3-1 in overtime before 195-pound Willie Bivens decisioned UTC's Clay Dent 7-4.

Those wins set the stage for Jere Heino, who was down 4-3 with less than 30 seconds remaining. He scored a takedown and two back points on Johnson, one of the Mocs' top All-America candidates, to give Campbell the team win.

Alonzo Allen and Chris DeBien gave UTC an early 9-0 lead, Allen upsetting 13th-ranked Nathan Kraisser 11-4 and DeBien pinning Jonathan Ryan.

However, Campbell rallied with wins in the next three matches to gain a 12-9 lead. Justin Lampe regained the lead for the Mocs with a major decision at 165 and Sean Mappes made it 19-12 with a pin at 174, but UTC was shut out the rest of the way.

The Mocs (5-8, 3-1) then blitzed Davidson, getting bonus-point victories from Allen, DeBien, Dylanger Potter, Lampe, Mappes, Carr, Barrett Walthall and Johnson. Lampe's pin took just 13 seconds.
