Mocs, SoCon preview stories

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Despite having the most players selected to all-conference teams, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football program was selected fourth in both polls at the Southern Conference media day on Tuesday.

The Mocs had 10 players picked on the two teams, including four - offensive lineman Josh Cardiello, defensive end Isaiah Mack, linebacker Dale Warren and safety Lucas Webb - who were picked to the first team.

Quarterback Alejandro Bennifield, running back Richardre Bagley, receiver James Stovall, offensive lineman Malcolm White, defensive end Taylor Reynolds and defensive back Trevor Wright were second-team selections.

Wofford, who advanced to the Football Championship Subdivision final eight last season, was the unanimous selection to win the league. The Citadel was selected second in both polls, with Samford, UTC and Mercer in order. Western Carolina was sixth in the coaches poll and seventh in the media, with Furman sixth in the media poll and seventh in the coaches.

East Tennessee State and Virginia Military Institute rounded out the polls.
