Sewanee falls 48-42 to Hendrix

Visiting Hendrix College defeated Sewanee 48-42 in Southern Athletic Association football Saturday.

Miles Thompson threw four touchdown passes, three to Nate Hodapp, and ran for two scores as the Warriors built a 48-21 lead and weathered a closing flurry.

The host Tigers (2-3, 1-2) took the lead on Warren Holland's 2-yard run four minutes into the game and went up 14-7 on William Phillips' 66-yard punt return later in the first quarter, but Hendrix (4-1) answered each time with a TD pass and broke a 21-21 tie with two scores in the final 1:15 of the first half.

The Arkansas school then scored the first two TDs of the second half before Mikey Plancher ran for two Sewanee scores and Micah Maes caught an 8-yard TD pass from Alex Darras.

Darras was 24-for-45 for 353 passing yards and two TDs, along with two interceptions and a lost fumble, and Steven Hearn and Cyrus McCullough caught five throws each for 92 and 81 yards with Maes and Allan Puri adding 65 yards and a TD apiece. Thompson was 27-of-43 for 279 yards and ran 20 times for 119, and Hodapp caught 12 passes for 144 yards.

The Tigers' Conoly Koontz had 10 solo tackles, including two for loss, and two assists, and Lee Menefee had 2.5 lost-yardage stops and forced a fumble.
