UTC wrestlers host Appalachian State Sunday

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling program has a Southern Conference match Sunday at home.

It's a pretty big one.

The Mocs face Appalachian State at 2 p.m. at Maclellan Gymnasium in a dual with league championship implications.

Both teams are undefeated in SoCon competition, with the Mountaineers 5-0 and the Mocs 4-0. Appalachian State (7-3 overall) would clinch a share of the conference's regular-season title with a win today, while UTC would put itself in good position with a victory.

The teams battled to a 16-all tie last season in Boone, N.C., with the Mountaineers winning based off scoring one more individual point than the Mocs in the 10 contested matches.

The Mocs haven't wrestled since defeating The Citadel 38-7 on Jan. 21 for their second consecutive victory.

They are expected to start Alonzo Allen (125), Chris Debien (133), Michael Pongracz (141), Roman Boylen (149), Dylan Forzani (157), Chad Pyke (165), Justin Lampe (174), Bryce Carr (184), Scottie Boykin (197) and Connor Tolley (285), who returns after not competing since the Black Knight Invite on Nov. 19, having incurred an upper-body injury.
