Thomasville's Karey Lee commits to UTC football

Karey Lee became the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football program's first commitment for the 2019 graduating class this week.

"First and foremost I must thank the man above for blessing me with the talent and opportunities to further my education, as well as playing the game I love on a Division I level," Lee tweeted. He also thanked his family before announcing his commitment to UTC.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder from Thomasville, Georgia, played in 11 games as a junior and emerged as a versatile threat on both sides of the ball. He had 61 tackles, eight interceptions, three passes broken up, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble while also accumulating 355 combined kickoff- and punt-return yards.

He projects to play cornerback at UTC and could help offset the losses of defensive backs C.J. Fritz and Kareem Orr after the 2018 season.
