KNOXVILLE - The Tennessee football program picked up its sixth known commitment of the 2019 recruiting class late Friday night.

Sean Brown, a three-star tight end from Coosa High School near Rome, Ga., announced his commitment to the Volunteers in a post on Twitter.

"First off, I would like to thank God for all he has done for making me the best that I can be," Brown wrote in the announcement. "I've been through some rough situations and it's pushed me to do my best."

Brown is the Vols' second 2019 tight end commitment from northwestern Georgia. Jackson Lowe, a tight end at Cartersville High School, committed in March.

Tennessee also has two offensive linemen and two defensive linemen committed in the class.

The 6-foot-5 Brown also had scholarship offers from Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss and others, according to Rivals and 247Sports.

"I told myself a few years ago that I was gonna make it for my momma," he wrote in his announcement. "All of the hard work that I put in, was for her. The recruiting process has been one of the best experiences in my whole life and I thank every coach that has been there through it all with me. In saying that, I am officially committing to play at The University of Tennessee. #GoVols."

Verbal commitments are nonbinding, and Brown's first opportunity to sign a national letter of intent will come in December.

Tennessee appears to have numerous options at tight end entering the 2018 season, and none of those players are seniors, meaning Brown and Lowe could face plenty of competition for early playing time or be potential redshirt candidates.

Redshirt junior Eli Wolf and redshirt sophomore Austin Pope are returning at tight end in 2018 after playing some in 2017. Freshman Jacob Warren enrolled in January and participated in spring practices, and junior college transfer Dominick Wood-Anderson is expected to compete immediately for playing time.

Other options at tight end for Tennessee in 2018 include rising sophomore LaTrell Bumphus, sophomore James Brown and redshirt sophomore Ja'Quain Blakely, who played the position in spring practices after spending last season with the defensive line.
