UTC men's basketball team loses again at Ungar Classic

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball team dropped its second straight game at the Goldie & Herman Ungar Classic, losing 63-42 to Southeast Missouri State on Saturday in Mobile, Alabama.

The Mocs (2-3) shot less than 30 percent from the field for the second night in a row at the Mitchell Center, making 15 of 59 shots (25.4 percent) against the Redhawks (3-2) after making 17 of 57 (33.3) in Friday's 73-54 loss to host South Alabama.

The Redhawks led just 18-17 with 3:35 remaining in the first half Saturday after UTC's Donovann Toatley made a jumper, but the Mocs went without a field goal over the next 11:25, a 19-1 run that changed the game.

Jerry Johnson Jr. scored 12 points as the only UTC player in double figures. Kevin Easley was next on the scoring list with eight points, and Thomas Smallwood grabbed seven rebounds.

Skyler Hogan (15 points) and Ledarrius Brewer (11) led Southeast Missouri State, with teammate Sage Tolbert getting 10 rebounds.

The Mocs close their time at the Mobile event today with a 4:05 p.m. game against Jacksonville (1-4), which lost 77-71 to the Redhawks on Friday and beat South Alabama 71-48 on Saturday.
