Alabama's recent dominance in college football recruiting hasn't always included the top prospect from its own state.
That should not be the case in the 2020 cycle.
Outside linebacker Quandarrius Robinson on Tuesday night gave a nonbinding commitment to the Crimson Tide over Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Nebraska and Tennessee. The 6-foot-5, 217-pounder from Birmingham's Jackson-Olin High School was previously an Auburn commitment.
Robinson is the nation's No. 5 outside linebacker and No. 53 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings, and he is the Yellowhammer State's top player. The state's top two prospects in the 2019 recruiting cycle, Hoover receiver George Pickens and Oxford center Clay Webb, signed with Georgia.
The state's top prospect in 2018, Phenix City receiver Justyn Ross, signed with Clemson.
Robinson is Alabama's 20th commitment for 2020. The Crimson Tide's class is ranked second nationally behind Clemson in the 247Sports team standings.
