Four-star quarterback Carson Beck, who was formerly committed to Alabama, announced Sunday afternoon that he was committing to Georgia.

Georgia's recent football success against the Florida Gators in Jacksonville during late October extended into early March this year.

The Bulldogs have received a commitment from four-star quarterback Carson Beck, a 6-foot-5, 226-pounder from Jacksonville's Mandarin High School. Beck, who announced his pledge Sunday, is the nation's No. 3 pro-style quarterback and the No. 62 overall prospect in the 2020 signing class, according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings.

Beck, who committed to Alabama last June before opening up his recruitment early last month, picked the Bulldogs over the Gators. He attended junior day in Athens on Saturday.

"I want to thank God for putting me in the situation that I'm in and the many blessings he has provided for me," Beck posted on Twitter. "I also want to thank my family and coaches who have helped me to be a better person and a better player day by day. With that being said, after visiting and talking to Coach (Kirby) Smart, Coach (James) Coley and Coach (Todd) Hartley, I'm blessed to announce that I will be committing to the University of Georgia."

Georgia's starting quarterback the past two seasons, Jake Fromm, also committed to Alabama during the recruiting process before switching.

Beck is the fifth four- or five-star quarterback to commit to Smart in as many recruiting cycles, joining Jacob Eason (2016), Fromm (2017), Justin Fields (2018) and Dwan Mathis (2019). Eason has since transferred to Washington and Fields to Ohio State.
