Oregon guard Victor Bailey transferring to Vols

The Tennessee men's basketball program gained its second transfer of the 2019 recruiting cycle Friday when former Oregon guard Victor Bailey pledged to join the Volunteers.

The 6-foot-4 Bailey is expected to sit out the 2019-20 season but would have two seasons remaining after that. He joins former Arizona State forward Uros Plasvic as transfers to the Vols, and they join guard Josiah James, swingman Davonte Gaines and forwards Drew Pember and Olivier Robinson-Nkamhoua as new additions to a program that has lost four starters and another player from a 31-win 2018-19 campaign.

Admiral Schofield and Kyle Alexander used up their eligibility, Grant Williams and Jordan Bone are in the NBA draft pool and junior forward Derrick Walker transferred to Nebraska.

Bailey started eight games as a sophomore for the Ducks, averaging 7.4 points a game and ranking ninth in the Pac-12 in 3-point percentage (.398). He had 24 career double-digit scoring performances and shot 89% from the free-throw line during his Oregon career.

His addition should offset what will be the loss of two senior guards in 2019-20 in Jordan Bowden and Lamonte Turner.

Lady Vols staff filled

New Lady Vols coach Kellie Harper completed her full-time staff Friday with the hirings of Jessica Jackson, Catherine Greene and Tyler Watson in support positions.

Jackson will serve as director of recruiting operations, Green as director of basketball operations and Watson - who played football and wrestled for Baylor School - as strength and conditioning coach.

In addition, Alex Varlan's title was adjusted from video coordinator to director of scouting and analytics while Heather Ervin was changed from director of recruiting operations and player personnel to director of player relations and administration.

Harper already announced the hirings of her husband Jon, Jennifer Sullivan and Lacey Goldwire as assistant coaches.

"I am excited and proud of the staff that we have assembled," Kellie Harper said in a university release. "Everyone possesses strong character and work ethic and is committed to our vision and this program's success."
