Bryan sweeps Tennessee Wesleyan in AAC basketball

Bryan College beat the visiting Tennessee Wesleyan women 79-54 and the TWU men 69-59 in Appalachian Athletic Conference basketball Tuesday evening.

Deandra Luna and Sarah Cain each had 16 points and four assists for the nationally ranked Lady Lions (9-0, 6-0), and Destiny Kassner was 5-for-5 from the field in scoring 11 points. Kaitlynn Hennessee and Shayla Ludy had six and four steals. Jordan Wright scored 15 points with three 3-point baskets for the Lady Bulldogs (3-5, 3-4).

Keaton Dotson scored 21 points with 5-of-7 accuracy on 3s for the Lions (6-3, 5-2), and KJ Hawkins had eight assists. Austin Douglas had 13 points and seven rebounds and Isaiah McClain had 12 points and three steals in the win. Lorenzo Gatling led the Bulldogs (3-5, 2-5) with 11 points; Ty Patterson had eight rebounds with nine points.

* Sewanee 74, Piedmont 58: At Sewanee, the Tigers rose to 5-2 while administering the Lions' first loss in five games this season. Michael Barry was 7-of-9 on 3-point shots and scored 22 points for Sewanee, while Joey Knox had 21 points and six assists, Adrian Thomas 11 points and seven rebounds and Ryan Starr eight assists and four steals.

* Emory (w) 68, Sewanee 46: At Sewanee, Blair Ripley had 19 points and 11 rebounds as the visiting Eagles improved to 5-1. Ellie Treanton had 14 points and four assists for the Tigers (3-4), who got 11 points from Raquel Waller, 10 points and four steals from Kinsley Logan and eight rebounds from Bella Bombassi.

* Oglethorpe (w) 80, Covenant 58: At Atlanta, Taylor Smith led the 6-1 winning hosts with 24 points and 10 rebounds, and the visitors committed 34 turnovers. Ruthie Moore scored 15 points and Hannah Monday, Cosette Kirsch and Rachel Thomas added 13, 12 and 11 for Covenant (2-5). Monday also blocked three shots and had only one turnover.

* Cleveland State 73, Wallace State-Hanceville 61: At Cleveland, the Cougars (5-4) went to 4-0 at home this season as Kerry Pratt and Jaquez Hicks scored 14 and 13 points, Hicks with eight rebounds and three blocks, and Demonte Person passed for 10 assists. Jon Morgan also blocked three shots.

* Wallace State (w) 72, Cleveland State 51: The host Lady Cougars (4-4) were close until being outscored 22-6 in the fourth quarter. Britnay Gore had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Asjah Harrell scored 13 in defeat, while Cassidy Nihoff had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
