Basketball

* The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga announced Wednesday that junior transfer Stefan Kenic had been ruled immediately eligible by the NCAA to play for the men's basketball Mocs. He will be with them in Emerald Coast Classic games Friday (against Alabama State) and Saturday in Niceville, Florida. Kenic started 59 games in his two seasons at Cleveland State University and averaged 9.3 points a game. "We're excited for Stef," Mocs coach Lamont Paris said in a UTC release. "He's a really high-character guy who just wants to compete and be good at basketball while enjoying the college experience. We're not putting any expectations on him as a player heading into this weekend. He hasn't played a minute of college basketball this season. We are really happy for him and for our group."

* The Covenant College men lost 67-62 at nationally second-ranked Emory University in NCAA Division III basketball Tuesday night, after leading the 5-0 Eagles 40-37 at halftime. Will Crumly had 23 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots and Chris Barnette contributed 19 points and five assists for the Scots (3-2).

* The Chattanooga State women's basketball team leveled its season record at 4-4 with a 71-63 home win Tuesday against Snead State. The Chattanooga State men lost 69-58 to Snead and are 4-3.

Tennis

* Lee University's Antonio Pons and Bruno Medeiros wound up 20th in NCAA Division II men's doubles in the final 2019 Oracle ITA rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. They are ranked No. 3 in the South Region. Pons and Medeiros went 3-1 in the USTA/ITA regional in September, losing 8-7 in the semifinals. "I'm really pleased for Bruno and Antonio," coach Patric Hynes said in a Lee release. "We threw this pair together at the last minute, and to their credit they accepted the challenge and found ways to produce their best tennis."
