KNOXVILLE — The Tennessee men's basketball program picked up a commitment Wednesday from five-star prospect Jaden Springer, a 6-foot-5 guard who plays for IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Springer, who is from Charlotte, North Carolina, is the No. 16 player overall and the No. 4 shooting guard in the 2020 signing class, according to the 247Sports.com composite rating, which also factors in rankings by ESPN and Rivals.com. He had 19 offers in all and chose the Volunteers over Memphis and Michigan.
He joins a group of Tennessee-committed 2020 recruits that includes five-star guard Keon Johnson and four-star forward Corey Walker. The Vols' recruiting class is ranked No. 4 in the country by 247Sports. Commitments are nonbinding, with the earliest opportunity for 2020 recruits to sign coming Nov. 13-20.
Springer averaged 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals last season as a junior for IMG, which is considered one of the top high school programs in the country and won the 2019 GEICO Nationals.
