The University of Tennessee women's basketball team's game at No. 23 Texas was called off shortly before its scheduled tipoff Sunday afternoon in Austin.

The host Longhorns (4-1) made the decision in accordance with Big 12 Conference guidelines due to COVID-19 contact tracing within their program. It has not been determined if the matchup with the Southeastern Conference's Lady Volunteers (3-1) will be made up. Texas is set to open Big 12 competition by hosting Kansas on Thursday.

Not counting Texas, the Lady Vols have just two games remaining on their schedule - home dates against Jackson State next Sunday and Dec. 28 versus Lipscomb - before opening SEC play Dec. 31 at Texas A&M. Tennessee's most recent outing was a 90-53 win against Furman this past Thursday as the Lady Vols bounced back from a 73-70 overtime loss at West Virginia four days earlier. They also beat Western Kentucky and East Tennessee State by double digits to start the season.
