Repeat women's diver of the year Noel Whitlock heads the 10 Sewanee athletes announced Monday as part of the Southern Athletic Association's 2020 all-conference swimming and diving teams. The selections were based on finishes at the Feb. 13-15 league meet in Birmingham, where senior Whitlock led top-three sweeps with teammates Paisley Simmons (All-SAA second team) and Olivia Durfee (honorable mention) in both the 1- and 3-meter events. Whitlock's third and fourth career first-team awards give her seven All-SAA honors in all. First-team Sewanee women's swimmers Gabby Acker (100- and 200-yard breaststroke) and Kate Mabry (100 backstroke) were All-SAA last year as well. Carl Failing was first team for Sewanee's men in the 100 back and 100 freestyle, giving him five career all-conference finishes, and Jed Henrichsen was All-SAA second team in both diving events. James Hoyt earned honorable mention in the 1650 free and with Failing, Anthony Carbone and Lee Haber in the 400 free relay. Failing set a meet and school record in winning the 100 back and a Tigers standard also in winning the 100 free. Acker set a meet and school record with a national qualifying time of 2:19.58 in the 200 breast. Mabry was second in the 200 back.

The women's seedings already are set with Chattanooga State (23-5, 14-3) and the Lady Chargers (2-21, 0-17) in the Nos. 2 and 10 slots, but the outcome between the currently fourth-place Chargers (19-10, 9-8) and the visiting Tigers (11-15, 8-9) can affect the opening pairings of six teams.
