Georgia senior defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt was arrested late Tuesday night in Athens on misdemeanor charges of family violence, criminal trespass and property damage.

According to the university police report, the 6-foot-3, 301-pounder got involved last Friday afternoon in a verbal altercation with a female that led to Wyatt kicking her McWhorter Hall door several times and eventually forcing it open. A warrant was filed for Wyatt's arrest Tuesday night, and he was booked into the Clarke County Jail just before midnight.

Bond for Wyatt was set at $1,500, and he was released Wednesday shortly after noon.

"I'm disappointed in the misconduct that is outlined in the incident report," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said Wednesday morning through a released statement. "This is not indicative of the behavior we expect from our student-athletes who represent the University of Georgia and our football program. We will address it internally in the appropriate way."

Information gathered at the dorm showed a "pattern of cohabitation" with Wyatt and the female, which led to the family violence charge.

Wyatt played in 13 of 14 games last season for the Bulldogs, amassing 30 tackles, 27 quarterback hurries and a sack of LSU's Joe Burrow in the Southeastern Conference championship game. His 30 tackles led Georgia's interior linemen, and his 27 pressures ranked second on the team to outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari's 39.

In Georgia's 26-14 downing of Baylor in last month's Sugar Bowl, Wyatt made his first start as a Bulldog.

Wyatt was a four-star prospect from the Atlanta suburb of Decatur in the 2017 signing class but detoured to Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College, where he became a top-10 national junior-college prospect in the 2018 signing class. He enrolled at Georgia in January 2018 and played in 12 of 14 games that season, tallying 19 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
