University of Tennessee at Chattanooga softball coach Frank Reed has announced two staff changes for the 2020 season. Scottie Kilgore has been elevated to associate head coach from the assistant coach position he held for the past five seasons, and former Carson-Newman All-America catcher Brianna Shoemake joined the staff as an assistant in the fall. Working primarily with the offense, Kilgore joined the UTC staff in 2015 and helped lead the program to Southern Conference titles and NCAA tournament appearances in 2015 and last year. "I'm so excited to move Scottie into the associate head coach position," Reed said in a school release. "He has done an awesome job here in Chattanooga, and it's great to be able to reward him for his hard work. We've seen vast improvements on the field because of Scottie's contributions to the program." Shoemake started more than 200 games for CNU from 2010 to 2013 and batted better than .270 with 19 home runs and 160 RBIs, and she threw out 56 of 124 potential base thieves. "We're happy to add Brianna to our program," Reed said. "She brings vast experience to us being a Division II All-American catcher and a great hitter at Carson-Newman. We look forward to her contributing in numerous areas, including working with our catchers, outfielders and some additional work with our pitchers." The Mocs' season begins Feb. 8-9 with three home games against Austin Peay.
