Storyline: The Mocs end a three-game home stand against the defending Southern Conference champion Terriers in what could be an offensive shootout. The Mocs are coming off their most impressive win of the season, a 105-67 dismantling of Samford, while Wofford escaped The Citadel with a 73-71 win. Expect a barrage of 3-pointers on both ends as UTC comes in shooting a robust 41.3% from deep with 148 made 3s and Wofford is at 38% with 177 makes. Matt Ryan and David Jean-Baptiste lead UTC with 44 and 31 3s, respectively, while Nathan Hoover and Storm Murphy have a combined 78 for the Terriers.
What's at stake? Even though Wofford lost three starters - including conference player of the year Fletcher Magee - from last season's 30-win, top-20 team, a win would give the Mocs more credibility within the league and increase their profile nationally. Wofford's four SoCon games have been decided by a total of 14 points, so UTC likely will have to perform in the final five minutes to subdue the reigning champs.
