The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football program has picked up a commitment from Josh Headlee, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound offensive lineman who spent his first two college seasons at Appalachian State in his hometown of Boone, North Carolina.
Headlee, who has three years of eligibility remaining and will not have to sit out a season, shared his commitment via Twitter late Friday night.
Rated a two-star prospect by 247Sports.com coming out of Watauga High School, he didn't play last year after redshirting in 2018 during his first season with the Mountaineers. He initially chose Appalachian State over offers from Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State and Western Carolina.
Headlee will join an offensive line expected to be one of the best and most experienced in the Southern Conference. Although the Mocs must replace four-year starter Malcolm White up front, they return six players who started at least four games on the offensive line last season.
UTC's season opener is scheduled for Sept. 3 at Western Kentucky.
