The University of Tennessee football program picked up a commitment Thursday from Demarius McGhee, a 6-foot-1, 162-pound defensive back from Pensacola Catholic High School in Florida.

McGhee, who is the 24th player committed to the Volunteers for the 2021 recruiting cycle, is rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports.com and a three-star prospect in the composite ranking that factors in ESPN and Rivals.com. He chose the Vols over 29 other offers, including Southeastern Conference programs Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and South Carolina.

He finished with four interceptions and five passes defended in 2019, when he also scored four touchdowns on offense

The Vols are currently No. 5 in the 247Sports team rankings, which is second in the SEC behind Alabama, which has 16 commitments.
