Alabama landed its first five-star commitment of college football's 2021 recruiting cycle Friday afternoon, receiving a nonbinding pledge from IMG Academy offensive tackle JC Latham.
The 6-foot-6, 305-pounder played in Wisconsin as a sophomore before competing last season in Bradenton, Florida, where he helped IMG to a 9-1 record. Latham announced his decision via a Twitter video and picked the Crimson Tide over scholarship offers from LSU and Ohio State.
Latham is the No. 5 offensive tackle nationally and the No. 17 overall prospect in the 247Sports.com composite rankings. He is the seventh commitment in Alabama's 2021 class, which has five four-star recruits.
Alabama has signed at least one five-star prospect every year since 2008.
