Georgia sophomore pitcher and former Heritage High School standout Cole Wilcox has been named by Collegiate Baseball as a second-team All-American for the 2020 season that was shortened by the coronavirus outbreak.

The 6-foot-5, 232-pounder from Chickamauga made four starts for the Bulldogs, posting a 3-0 record with a 1.57 ERA. In 23 innings pitched, Wilcox racked up 32 strikeouts and allowed just two walks.

Wilcox was most dominant during a 12-0 win at No. 17 Georgia Tech on Feb. 29, when he tallied 12 strikeouts while yielding three hits and no walks in seven innings. His outing enabled Georgia to collect its first shutout victory over the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta since 1964.

The Bulldogs climbed as high as No. 2 nationally and were 14-4 when the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the cancellation of the season.
