Georgia senior safety Richard LeCounte III was injured Saturday night in Athens when his motorcycle was struck by two cars after the Bulldogs had returned late that afternoon from their 14-3 win at Kentucky.
"He was transported to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center where he was treated in the trauma center," Georgia director of sports medicine Ron Courson said Sunday afternoon in a statement. "He is still in the hospital for further medical care. His injuries are not life-threatening, and a full recovery is expected.
"We would like to thank the emergency medical technicians, physicians, nurses and other medical personnel who helped care for Richard. Richard's family would also like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and well-wishes during this time."
LeCounte was outstanding against the Wildcats, racking up 13 tackles, three pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart has his weekly news conference Monday at noon, when he is expected to update LeCounte's situation. The No. 5 Bulldogs (4-1) have their biggest game of the season this Saturday afternoon against No. 8 Florida (3-1) in Jacksonville.
