Tennessee's men's basketball program found some success through the NCAA transfer portal Saturday, landing former Auburn guard Justin Powell.

The 6-foot-6, 205-pounder from Prospect, Kentucky, averaged 11.7 points and 6.1 rebounds this season as a freshman for Bruce Pearl's Tigers, but a concussion limited him to 10 games. Powell did not play after a Jan. 2 trip to Texas A&M.

Powell, who made the transfer announcement via Twitter, shot 44.2% from 3-point range (19-of-43) at Auburn and racked up 47 assists against 26 turnovers. He briefly served as Auburn's point guard but is expected to play his natural shooting guard spot with the arrival of five-star freshman point guard Kennedy Chandler.

In the 2020 signing class, Powell was a three-star prospect and the No. 185 overall recruit in the 247Sports.com composite rankings.
